1. God
God-Centered! Is what you’re doing, or about to do, God for you? Is it really God’s will? Not everything good is God for you, but what is God for you is good for you.
Live a God-centered life in every realm of life. It is more than a simple statement—it is a life-long challenge! It takes serious commitment for a person to live a God-centered life.
2. Leadership
Everything is subject to leadership (if not, it is subject to fail). God always uses leadership (mankind) to accomplish His will on the earth.
God is the ultimate leader of all time. He knows everything, sees everything, and is ever present. He is the Master, and we can learn by studying Him and observing how He functions. He is the epitome of leadership.
3. Vision
Proverbs 29:18 “Where there is no revelation [vision], the people cast off restraint [perish].”
Where there is no prophetic vision or prophetic insight, the people are unconstrained with no limits, no perimeters, and no protective and comforting barriers. Without a vision people will not know where they are going, how to get there, if they are on the right course, and they may not even recognize it when they arrive.
Vision is a clear communicable picture of the desired end result.
4. Work
To be successful, we must know what has to be accomplished for that success. We have to know what we need to do. It takes work to fulfill the vision!
If you identify the work you can find a way to do it. If you don’t identify it, you can’t do it, because you can’t do what you don’t know to do.
It is often an on-going process of identifying the work and organizing it into logical groups (determining where it belongs).
5. Plan
Even the smallest and simplest of human endeavors are worthy of an intelligent plan. Proper planning and preparation precede successful accomplishment.
- Devise a plan for doing the work.
- Plan the work—work the plan!
- Establish appropriate goals and objectives.
6. Resources
There are only six categories of resources. Everything you need to fulfill the vision will fit into these six categories that include who and what it takes to accomplish the work:
- People
- Training
- Money
- Materials & Supplies
- Tools & Equipment
- Facilities
7. Ethics
We should operate on the very premise of doing what is good and acceptable in the sight of God (because we want to, not because we have to). We should be characterized by excellence in the affairs of life and in our lifestyles.
The Ethics ring is made up of 4 items:
- Ethics—Code of Conduct
- Principles—foundational truths
- Doctrines—basic beliefs
- Characteristics—individual qualities
Summary
- Every initiative in life, whether it’s personal, family, ministry, or business related should be God-centered.
- Everything is subject to leadership. If not, it is subject to fail.
- Vision is essential to ensure every initiative stays on course.
