Becoming A Disciple. Reaching Your Potential.
The greatest thing you can do in life is to follow the will of God for your life. It is through this that we can experience true fulfillment and purpose. According to 1st Timothy 2:3-4, God desires for every person to come to the knowledge of the provision of Jesus Christ for salvation and eternal life. This is not just a suggestion, but a divine mandate.
Let us remember that our lives are not our own, but belong to God. Therefore, it is important to seek His will and purpose for our lives. When we do so, we can be assured that we are living in alignment with His plan for us and that we will experience the greatest possible fulfillment in this life and beyond.
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
I Timothy 2:3-4
Salvation
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
Salvation is the act of being saved from the consequences of sin through faith in Jesus Christ. All people are sinners and are separated from God because of their sin, which is rebellion against God’s perfect and holy nature. Because of this separation, people cannot have a relationship with God and are condemned to eternal punishment.
Salvation is necessary because it provides a way for people to be reconciled with God and have eternal life. This is accomplished through faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Salvation is a free gift from God available to all people, regardless of their race, nationality, or social status. It is based on the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross, and is received by faith in Him as Savior and Lord, it cannot be earned through good works or personal merit.
“That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
The process of salvation begins with conviction of sin and recognition of one’s need for a savior. This often involves a realization of personal guilt and a sense of spiritual emptiness or dissatisfaction. The next step is repentance, which involves turning away from one’s sinful behavior and seeking to live in accordance with God’s will. Finally, salvation is achieved through faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. This involves confessing belief in Jesus as the Son of God who died on the cross for the forgiveness of sins and rose again from the dead, and committing one’s life to following Him.
God
God is the supreme being who created and sustains the universe. He is the one true God, who exists eternally as three distinct but inseparable persons: the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit. This belief is known as the doctrine of the Trinity.
God is infinite, eternal, and unchanging in His nature and attributes. He is the source of all goodness, love, wisdom, and power, and He is perfectly holy and just. God is also a personal God who desires to have a relationship with humanity, and he has revealed Himself to us through his creation, his written Word (the Bible), and ultimately through His Son, Jesus Christ.
God is sovereign over all things, meaning that He is in control of everything that happens in the universe. While humans have free will and are responsible for their actions, God is ultimately in charge and has a plan for the world that will ultimately be fulfilled. God also has a plan for YOU and through a relationship with God, you are able to experience the forgiveness of sins, the assurance of eternal life, and the hope of a better future.
The Bible
The instruction manual for life!
The Bible is a collection of sacred texts that contains the beliefs and teachings of the Christian faith. It is the inspired and authoritative Word of God. The Bible is divided into two main parts: the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament contains 39 books and is primarily concerned with the history of the Jewish people, their laws and religious practices, and their relationship with God. The New Testament contains 27 books and is focused on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, the establishment and growth of the Christian church, and instructions for believers to live godly lives.
The Old Testament is divided into several categories of books, including the Pentateuch (the first five books of the Bible, attributed to Moses), historical books, wisdom literature, and prophetic books. These books were written over a period of roughly 1000 years, from around 1400 BC to 400 BC. They are written in Hebrew, with some portions in Aramaic. The New Testament is divided into four categories of books: the Gospels, which are narratives of the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ; the Acts of the Apostles, which describe the establishment and early growth of the Christian church; the Epistles, which are letters written by early Christian leaders to various churches and individuals; and the Book of Revelation, which contains visions of the end times and the ultimate victory of God.
The Bible is the Word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error in its original manuscripts. It is the ultimate authority for faith and practice, and is used for guidance and instruction in all aspects of life. The Bible is read and studied by individuals and in groups, and its teachings are central to Christian worship and theology.
Sin
Every single person has sin.
All human beings are born with a sinful nature. This is based on the biblical account of the Fall in Genesis, where Adam and Eve sinned against God and brought sin into the world. As a result, all of humanity is now born with a sinful nature that separates them from God. Sin is viewed as a rebellion against God and His perfect standard of righteousness.
The consequences of sin are severe. The Bible teaches that the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). This refers not only to physical death, but also to spiritual death, which is separation from God. Sin has also corrupted every aspect of human life, including relationships, work, and society. As a result, all human beings are in need of salvation from the power and penalty of sin.
Repentance and faith in Jesus Christ is the only means of forgiveness from sin and reconciliation with God. Jesus Christ, through His death and resurrection, made atonement for the sins of humanity. Those who repent of their sins and place their faith in Jesus Christ are forgiven and restored to a right relationship with God. The power of sin is broken, and believers are empowered by the Holy Spirit to live a life of obedience to God.
The Church
Not just a building!
The Church is the body of Christ, with Jesus as the head and individual believers as its members, this includes all true believers in Jesus Christ across all denominations and traditions. The Church comes together as local congregations, which serve as the primary expression of the Church on earth. These local congregations are typically led by pastors or elders who are responsible for the spiritual well-being of their members.
The Church’s primary mission is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world and to make disciples of all nations. The Church is a community of believers who are called to worship and serve together, supporting and encouraging one another in their faith journey. Christian fellowship and accountability within the Church help to strengthen the faith of individual believers and promote unity among believers.
The Church is centered on the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the mission of making disciples of all nations, emphasizing the importance of both the universal Church and local congregations, Christian fellowship, accountability, and personal responsibility.
Prayer
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
Prayer is a fundamental aspect of the Christian life and a vital means of communicating with God. They view prayer as a personal and intimate conversation with God, where believers can express their gratitude, ask for guidance and support, and seek forgiveness for their sins. They also believe that prayer is a powerful tool for spiritual growth and transformation, and that it can bring comfort and healing to those in need.
By praying according to God’s will, God’s perfect plan and purpose for our lives will bring us the greatest fulfillment. Christians believe in persistent prayer as we continue seeking God’s guidance and provision even in times of doubt or struggle.
Prayer has the power to bring about change in the world around us. We pray for our communities, our nation, and the world, seeking God’s intervention and guidance in matters of justice, peace, and righteousness. We also believe in the power of prayer to heal physical and emotional ailments.
The idea of praying might sound daunting, but it’s so easy. The Bible gives us some great starter prayers as we learn to pray:
- Matthew 6 (Lord’s prayer)
- Colossians 1:9
- Ephesians 1:
- Psalm 25:4-5
- Psalm 103:1-5
- James 1:5

If you are ready to accept Christ, pray this prayer out loud “Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and that I need your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead. I want to turn from my sins and invite Jesus Christ to come into my heart and life as my personal Lord and Savior. I am willing, by your grace, to follow and obey Christ as the Lord of my life. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for saving me and for giving me eternal life. Amen.”
